"Football is not a matter of life and death, it is more important than that."

Bill Shankly, Liverpool Football manager

Focus, The name of the game

Return to the book list for titles beginning with 'f'.

Focus, The name of the game, Scott Simpson, Larry Mize, Loren Roberts with Sigmund Brouwer, J Countryman 1999 ISBN 08499-5505-X [129 pages]

In the book three top tournament golfers "share their secrets of success in golf and in life" according to the introduction.

The format of the book is 2 sections, one by each of the players. Each player takes a different aspect of the game -Mize woods, Simpson irons and Roberts the short game. There is instruction, tips on course management and mental approach as well as a testimony from each players. There are also accounts of tournaments - for example Larry Mize on losing a 4 shot lead in the TPC and on winning the Masters.

My problem with this book is quite who would read it. It is so technical that only a serious player would be interested but very Christian for the non-Christian golfer.
